OpenClaw was one of the first AI agent platforms to achieve broad mainstream adoption. Its huge community, extensive integrations, and large ecosystem of shared skills helped establish the idea of a persistent personal AI agent that can work across your computer, apps, and messaging platforms.
Hermes Agent came later, building on many of the ideas pioneered by OpenClaw while pushing further into learning, memory, and self-improvement. Developed by Nous Research, Hermes can create reusable skills from experience, search its own history, delegate work to subagents, and continuously build a more capable toolkit as you use it.
